WATT ⚙️, Promecam’s Smart mAIntenance

Promecam is the only company in the machine tool industry to equip all its machines with WATT⚙️: an innovative system for predictive maintenance and consumption monitoring based on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.

First we listen, then we speak.

What is WATT⚙️? It is an acronym that stands for:

  • Warn – Alerts for potential issues or areas for improvement
  • Analyze – Deep dive into energy consumption data
  • Track – Monitor real-time and historical usage
  • Troubleshoot – Identify and diagnose problems with efficiency or maintenance

WATT consists of special broad-spectrum and highly sensitive sensors that monitor key components, collecting large amounts of signals. This data is processed by sophisticated statistical and Artificial Intelligence algorithms to be transformed into information.

Promecam’s WATT⚙️ system is installed by default in your machine. No surcharge, no fee: all the peace of mind of 24/7 surveillance that protects your investment. The WATT⚙️ system makes Promecam machines ready for Industry 5.0.

Total control

Thanks to this technology, we can monitor a wide range of anomalies, such as:

  • collisions and impacts between tools and with the workpiece
  • hydraulic problems with pumps, valves and other components
  • mechanical failures of bushings, bearings and axles
  • vibrations and offsets
  • process problems such as chatter or wear
  • failures of electrical and electromechanical power components
  • clogged filters or changes in oil characteristics.

This is not just preventive maintenance. We do not go in for general, superficial, undifferentiated checks. Ours is true predictive maintenance. With WATT we are able to understand which specific component is working abnormally, BEFORE it turns into a failure.

Power up to the minute

The first and most important parameter to monitor is energy consumption. By measuring energy consumption using the WATT system, we can learn a lot.

Is it left on unnecessarily?

Often the machine remains in operation even when it could be switched off, generating a hidden and unnecessary cost. At the same time, it increases stress on the electrical and hydraulic parts of the machine.

Does it stand idle at times when it should be producing?

By identifying stop periods, you can identify organisational problems, bottlenecks or downtime that can often be resolved.

Measured consumption

Does it absorb more than it should?

An increase in energy consumption can be due to many different causes. Friction, clogging, changes in material, change in viscosity, mechanical problems. By monitoring power consumption and analysing it, we can identify a broad spectrum of anomalies.

How much energy does it consume to make our pieces?

Whereas years ago the cost of energy might have been overlooked, or counted as an operating cost, this is no longer the case. Due in part to the increased focus on environmental issues, knowing the amount of energy consumed (and CO2 emitted) for each part is increasingly important. Thanks to the WATT monitoring system, we are able to provide you with all information on the power consumed by the machines.

The WATT dashboard

Through the WATT dashboard you have at a glance the main information extracted from WATT. Anomalies, collisions, machine utilisation rates, and above all energy consumption.
If necessary, we can go minute by minute to correlate the energy consumption of the machines to specific orders, either manually or with software automation. This way you can import the power consumption data into your MES or other management system.

Overall Energy Productivity

In our WATT dashboard you will find the parameter OEP (Overall Energy Productivity). This is a very useful indicator to determine the real energy efficiency of our machine. In other words, we tell you both how much your machine works and how it uses energy.

All data at a glance

In the WATT dashboard you will also find alarms and warnings related to your machines, such as faults and collisions. We can show you your entire workshop in one overview: machines, systems, lighting, services. Because the energy cost of your product is not only the cost of the machine, but also of everything around it. The production of the entire factory depends on certain installations, and they must be kept under control.

Early warnings

In addition, you will be warned in real time in the event of unplanned stops, crashes or collisions, and you can take appropriate action immediately. Maximum control over possible misuse or damage to the machine: no more ‘nasty surprises’ without culprits. Notifications can be sent to you either by email, SMS, WhatsApp or Telegram.
